District Recognition Dinner - November 1990 - Cary First Baptist Church:
About 110 Cubs, Scouts and Adults from 9 Cub Packs and 14 Scout Troops attended the dinner. 37 Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts were recognized for earning their Religious Award. 14 new Eagle Scouts were recognized and 18 adult Scouters were awarded the District's Distinguished Leadership Citation. Scouters Dawnna Dillon, Jinx McGraw and Ed Williams were awarded the District Award of Merit for their work in Scouting.

Finance:
Our financial goal for 1990 was $34,500.00. Macky Garner and the District Finance Committee collected $38,860 which was 113% of our goal. We held a recognition breakfast for our largest givers at the Mission Valley Inn. 19 Units in our District sold 6750 containers of popcorn products, which netted the units $13,300. Our District was #1 seller in the Council for the fourth straight year.

Scouting for Food - November 1990 - Larry Gracie, Chairman:
8 Packs and 13 Troops collected food for our National Good Turn project. They collected 7.8 tons of food which was distributed to 6 agencies. We had collected 4.5 tons in 1989 when Walt Brothers was Chairman.

Membership:
On December 31, 1990 our District's total membership was 1729 youth in 55 units. There were 185 Tigers, 973 Cubs, 523 Boy Scouts and 48 Explorers. There were also 659 adult leaders involved in the program. Of our 55 units 32 of them (or 58%) were qualified as Quality Units. We were serving 15% of the total available youth in our area.

Report for January 1991 to October 1991:

District Planning Retreat - January 19 - Sharon Harris Visitor Center:
Our district planning retreat was attended by 9 committee chairmen and members for 8 hours of planning our 1991 Scouting program and events and integrating them with the local Council and National plans and dates.

Mall Expo - February 2 - Cary Village Mall - Jeanne Johnson, Chairlady:
We had 630 Cubs, Scouts and Leaders in attendance from 11 Packs, 13 Troops and 3 Explorer units. It was probably the largest we have ever had. More than 133 Tigers, Cubs and Webelos participated in the Pinewood Derby. This continues to be our premier showcase for Scouting in our area.

Spring Camporee - April 24-28 - Camp Campbell - Terry Wyrick, Camporee Chief:
The camporee theme was "Back to Basics" and 480 Cubs, Scouts and Leaders were present. 21 out of our 24 Troops were there and 2 packs camped out.

Day Camp - June 17-21 - Fred Bond Park, Cary - John Cheney, Camp Director:
The Cub Day Camp and the Webelos Day Camp were held in the same week, at the same time. 83 Cub Scouts and 54 Webelos attended the camp. Our Cub Day Camps continue to be one of the largest Cub Day Camps in our Council.

Summer Camp:
24 out of 27 Troops attended Summer Camp, with 304 out of 495 boys and 69 adults involved. Last year we had 242 youth participating. Eight of the units camped at Camp Durant which is also an increase over last year.

Commissioner's Service - John Kristoff - District Commissioner:
Our Commissioner Service has expanded tremendously during the past year. Thanks to John Kristoff, Robert Littrell and Walter Brothers we now have 14 Unit Commissioner's serving our units, or almost 1 Commissioner for every 4 units. The new unit Commissioner's that have been recruited have been trained and are continuing training to become proficient in the Scouting areas that they serve.

Membership:
Our membership has been climbing this entire year, thanks to the efforts of Walt Brothers, our Acting Membership Chairman. Our Spring and Fall Roundups netted us about 250 youth and 20 adults. We have added more new units this year than in any of the past years.

The following figures are as of 9/30/91:
Tiger Cubs - 137, Cubs - 836, Scouts - 527, Explorers - 32
Total Youth - 1532
Units - 56
Quality Units - 33 (59%)
100% Boys Life
13% of available youth served
Total Adults - 650- 18

Finance - George Snead, SME Chairman:
Our finance goal for 1991 is $34,800. We have met this goal. Macky and George's hard work and another increase in our Family Campaign made this possible. The current figures are:
Sustaining Membership - $ 34,520.00
Special Events - $ 1,403.00
TOTAL - $ 35,923.00 (103%)

Training:
During 1991 our District helped to train about 125 Cub Scout adult leaders and about 55 Boy Scout and Webelos Scout adult leaders.

Uniform Sale:
Our District held a Scout Uniform Sale in January and September of this year as a special event to earn money for the Council. The sales allowed us to add about $ 475.00 to our special events totals.

The Council President's Award is given each month to the top district in the Occoneechee Council. Our District earned the President's Award for the months of January, March, April and May of this year.
