REPORT ON RETREAT The Dan Beard District Committee retreated to Camp Reeves on JAnuary 22 and 23, 1988 where 15 committee members, including 2 members at large, and two cooks. Attendees included: Walter Brothers District Chairman Macky Garner District Executive Roger Lear Vice Chairman Bob Taylor Boy Scout Program Chairman Bill Marley Activities and Civic Service Chairman Bill Snyder Finance Chairman Jinx McGraw Cub Scout Advancement Chairman Dave Duch Boy Scout Advancement Chairman Larry Gracie OA Chapter Advisor Bill Smail Camping Chairman Julia Satrazemis Cub Training Chairman Jerry Smith Webelos Day Camp Director Dan Rebman Member At Large K O Summerville Camporee Chief Barney O'quinn Member At Large John Slocomb Cook Tom Timney Cook The committee met to plan the activities for 1988, discuss job functions, finish the training started at the Scouter Conclave, and to set dates for district activities to be included in the 1989 Occoneechee Council calendar. All of the objectives were meet, attendance was especially good and although we accomplished a lot of work, I think everyone had a good time. Some of the comments indicated a need for a warmer facility and question about what we would do with a larger crowd. The evaluation forms averaged 8.75 overall which I think is pretty good for the first time. As the district chairman, I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all who took time away from a busy family schedule and especially to Roger and Macky for their assistance with the planning and execution of the retreat and to Nick for his help in planning - I know he was with us in spirit. Overall, I think the retreat was a success. I feel a lot more comfortable as district chairman and look forward to e=next year's retreat. Anyone for Acapulco?
