1. Pledge and Invocation by Ed Williams. Susan introduced Dwayne Hansen
who is a primary leader in the LDS Cubs.
2. March minutes approved as written.
3. District Commissioner - Ron Werley: Ron said the re-charter was complete,
except for Crews 50 and 191, Pack and Troop 238 and Troop 392. Some of
these units are not expected to re-charter.
Roundtable ADC - Gary Thorn (via e-mail): Gary reported that this years
Roundtables were down in attendance for every month when compared to last
year. March Roundtable had 41 in attendance.
4. Finance - Martin Banning: The FOS Family Campaign is at $71,315 (150% over
the target); Community Campaign is at $1398 and being worked on and the
Major Gifts Campaign is at $6900, with the campaign breakfast on May 1.
Popcorn - Susan Long: Debbie Phillips (Steve's wife), has agreed to
co-chair the 2003 District Popcorn Kernel position. However, we still need
a District Popcorn Kernel by May, when the Council kick-off is held.
PLEASE - If you know of someone who is interested in being our District
Popcorn Kernel, contact Susan Long as soon as possible.
5. Membership and Relationships - Steve Phillips: Our numbers are still
tentative because all of the re-charters have not been entered yet, but
presently we stand at 1773 Cubs, 1209 Boy Scouts and 133 Venture Scouts for
a total of 3115 Scouts in 97 units (36 Packs, 43 Troops and 18 Crews).
Steve said they are having discussions about having a Roundtable program
that would encourage spring recruitment.
LDS Liasion - Herb Council: The LDS church has a new Ward in the Swift
Creek Area.
National Eagle Scout Association Chapter - Gantt Edmiston (via e-mail):
Gantt reported that they are making some progress with the Chapter.
6. Activities and Civic Service - Dusty Fletcher: No report.
7. Boy Scout Program - Ed Walsh: No report.
Boy Scout Advancement - Ed Williams: Ed reported that 7 Troops showed
advancements in March. Troops 31, 50, 307 and 323 and 13 of our Crews
have not shown any advancement for the past 6 months.
The Eagle Board of Review for March reported 2 finals and 9 projects, all
approved.
Boy Scout Camporee - Bill Fairhurst: The patches have been ordered and the
program for the Camporee will be on the internet (Bob Gamble's registration
site) and sent out on Yahoo Groups, probably by April 7th.
8. Cub Program - Steve Ennis:
Cub Advancement - Pam Sen (via e-mail): Pam reported that 8 Packs have less
than 10 advancements for 2003. Pam is working on how to improve the Pack's
advancement information that is provided on the advancement forms.
Cub Day Camp - Steve Ennis: The CDC staff is working with Sequoyah to try
to share the work and the sites for Cub Day Camp.
Cub Family Campout - Steve Ennis for Robert Spivey: There are 17 Packs
registered to attend the Campout so far and they are made up of 313 Cubs and
372 family members, for a total of 685.
9. Venturing - Steve Stewart: No report.
10. Training - Marv Tharp: Marv reported that the IOLS course had about 36
participants. The BALOO training had 2 attend from Dan Beard and the TDC
course had 7 attend from Dan Beard. The Pow-Wow was attended by about 160,
with about 20 from Dan Beard.
The Safety Day at St. Giles is still scheduled for May 3 and a flyer is on
the Council web site. The NLE and Cub Leader Specific Training scheduled
for May 3rd has been MOVED to May 17th (see flyer on District web site).
11. Health and Safety - Susan Long for Dr. Mann: Plans are being made to do a
Health and Safety training session at our August Rountable Kick-off, which
is what we did last year.
12. Order of the Arrow - Tom Doligalski: No report.
13. Camping - Chuck Carter: Chuck is working on recruiting more adult Scouters
to serve on the District Camping Committee. He would like to meet at least
one time a month to try and promote Summer Camp, work weekends at the Scout
Reservation and enhance information flow on our Camping programs.
District Committee Members of the Month: Ron Werley for his work on our
units re-chartering process for this year.
