3. District Commissioner - Ron Werley: Ron passed out a new copy of the Key-3

4. Boy Scout Program:

Advancement - Ed Williams: Ed will put the advancement information on the
District Yahoogroups e-mail list server when he has the information.
Ed and Rodger reported that Summer Camp had about 805 in attendance, which
allowed the council to just about break even on the 2001 Summer Camp. John
Spinks ran the Cope Course since Ed is still in a cast for his broken heel.

Training - Troop Committee Challenge training will be held in Sanford on
August 18. A Training Development Conference (the old TTT) will be also
held in Sanford on August 25. Tri-District SMF, with Dan Beard as the host
and Tom Daligowski as Scoutmaster, will be held on October 5-7 at Camp
Camp Durant. Our Council Camporee will be at Fort Bragg on October 12-14.

5. Cub Program:

Advancement - Judy Ward: Judy reported that in April, May and June we had
a total of 61 Bobcats, 75 Wolves, 78 Bears, 74 Webelos and 46 Arrow Of
Lights, with 28 units reporting advancement in the biggest month (April).

Training - Cub RT training will be held at the Scout Office on August 25.

Cub Day Camp - The first week of Cub Day Camp had about 150 attending and
Barbara Barfield was the director and Laura Webster the Program Director.
The second week of Cub Day Camp had about 160 attending and Shiela Bullock
was the director and Susie Franklin was the program director. The Garner
SBI site used this year has been reserved for our 2002 Cub Day Camp.

6. Membership/Relationships - Marvin Tharp (via e-mail):

Fall Roundup has 40 units signed up to participate in 5 locations, with 7
units holding roundup at their normal meeting locations. Flyers will go to
the printers this week and be distributed to the schools by August 10. The
council has arranged for radio announcements and a Raleigh Scouter has made
arrangements to have roundup placemats used in Burger King locations in our
area. Marv and Rhonda Chesson will hold a District Roundup Training session
at the August 16 Roundtable, after the meal, from 7:00 to 7:30 pm. District
membership is at 2283 (vs 2225 in 2000) and 84 units (vs 83 in 2000).

7. Finance - Rodger Skirvin: Our district reached a final Friends of Scouting
figure of about $73,000, almost $3,000 over our goal. Good work Scouters!

Popcorn - Dusty Fletcher: The District Area Kernel training was held on
June 23rd. We have 32 units signed up so far, so Dusty & her 7 Area Kernels
will start calling those units who have not yet registered. The District
Popcorn Kickoff meeting will be held September 4 from 7 to 9 pm at St.
Francis UMC. UNITS, SIGN UP NOW, we need your help!

8. Activities and Civic Service - Dusty Fletcher: Dusty reported that we will
hold a Uniform Sale on September 8 at South Hills Mall, with uniform turn in
held on September 7 at South Hills Mall. UNITS - WE NEED UNIFORMS TO SELL!!

Dusty is trying to put together a "Scouting on the Air" program in October.

The Roundtable Kickoff MEAL on August 16th will start at 6 pm. Dusty would
like some district committee helpers to show up at around 5 pm to help set
up. She would also like for the committee members to bring desserts,
which can include watermelon, fruits and cantalopes. The meal and program
will be held in the gym building at our normal Roundtable location. Steve
Talley has checked to make sure that location would be available for the
August meal and for the November 15 Annual Recognition Event.
Thanks to Steve and the church for letting us use their facilities.

Dusty, Ed and Rog have put the Nomination Forms for the adult awards on
our district web page and they will also be broadcast on the e-mail list
server at Yahoogroups. PLEASE help us out and nominate some of your
dedicated Scouters. Information is included on the forms.

New Business: W.E. has asked Stan Belyeu to head up the Nominating Committee
for the 2001-2002 District Committee Nominations. If you would like to
serve on the District Committee please contact Stan Belyeu before October.
