Camporee - Stephen Stewart: George Hardy and some of Steve's helpers have put together a plan for the 1999 Spring Camporee. It was passed out to the Committee members & comments should be fed back to Steve at 779-6189 or George at 662-5537; the theme is Medieval Times of Scouting: The Quest for Knighthood.

Advancement - Ed Williams: There have been 945 merit badges earned by our troops this year. 32 units have had advancement. There has been no advancement for Troop 205 or Troop 361 this year.

Eagle Board of Review - Bill Slocumb: Bill reported 3 finals and 5 projects approved this month and 6 finals and 6 projects scheduled for August. Bill has purchased a home at 5904 Caledonia St., Raleigh, N.C. 27609 and his phone number has changed to 789-4326. Congratulations to he and Megan!

Training - John Slocumb reported for John Cortese: The next SMF Tri-District Course is scheduled for September 11-13, 1998. John Cortese will be the SM and W.E. Medlin is going to head up the cook crew.

Cub Scout Program

Training - Kathy Connelly: The Tri-District Cub training hosted by Impeesa is in doubt. David and Kathy are checking on it. If it is not held, our district will hold a Cub BLT in October or November of this year.

Advancement - Judy Ward: There were 2 packs with advancement in July (low is normal for July), with 1 Bear and 2 Arrow of Lights.

Cub Day Camp - John Slocumb reporting for Laura Purcell: 250 Cubs and Webelos really enjoyed the 94+ degree weather at Cub Day Camp from June 22-26. It was suggested that we find a new place for next year as Lake Wheeler says for the $2500 for the week we cannot use their bathrooms as the kids made a mess of them, which is normal for kids of that age, especially boys. Judy Ward suggested that we look at the new park on Road 1010. When Lisa White gets back we will start looking into a new place. Lisa will be the Cub Day Camp Director next year, with Jewel Ward and Susie Slopek as her Program people. The kids had no complaints and the adults only a few about some start up problems.

OA - Larry Nessly: The council JLT course, with Larry as SM, had 54 Scouts registered for the course. Great job Larry! The OA did dance demonstrations and Indian crafts at the Cub Day Camp and the Lodge did tap outs at Summer Camp. The OA will have a party at their meeting after the 8/20 RT cookout. The OA would like to see a presentation on the Venturing Program at their September Chapter meeting. David Page will try to get that done for them.

Health & Safety - Steve Merritt: Steve stated that there will be free air flights for anyone 6 and above at RDU airport on August 15th, from 10AM - 4PM. Scouts can complete 80% of the Aviation MB at that time and Steve will be present to pass off the other 20% of the MB. Jim & Sandy Dukeman (email address Plane8on@aol.com) took 761 youth up in 1997. Steve wants to try get Scouting physical forms on the Web so that parents and Doctors can get them.

Membership - David Page reporting for Lisa White: We have 1150 in Cubbing, 896 in Scouting, 42 in High Adventure Exploring and 940 adults, for a total of more than 3000 in our district. We have 76 units versus 72 for last year. September 10th will be Scout Roundup night and we will concentrate on Cubbing. Wake Co. has ok'ed putting our flyers in the schools and they are ready to be printed up. We will need help distributing them.

Activities and Civic Service - Susan Long: There will be NO uniform sale this year as we do not have enough uniforms to sell. Dick and Dusty Fletcher are going to work on a method to get the uniforms for next year. Dusty Fletcher has agreed to head up the Mall Expo for 1999 (thank you Dusty)! Susan is going to look into using our new RT location for the Recognition Event on 11/5. Start thinking about DAM and DLC nominations due at the October RT. It was decided by the Committee that Dan Beard will do Scouting for Food in February (the 6th and the 13th) even though the council had decided not to do it. Ed Williams is going to see if he can get the food bags printed up. Susan asked for help with setup at the August 20th dinner. Those helping with the setup should show up at 5PM. Please help us if you can; call Susan at 872-4884 if you are willing to help and have not signed up already.

High Adventure Exploring - Tom Stalker(not present): Tom and some of his river canoeing class saved a man's life on the Cape Fear River. The council is taking action on the life saving and we will hear more about it later.

Finance - David Page: The Tri-District stands at $151,000 of the $145,000 goal and have sent 235 letters out to businesses and friends of Koka Booth, the Cary Mayor, over his signature, asking for a final drive for the 98 campaign. Dan Beard contributed more than $57,000.00 (so far) of the $151,000.00

Popcorn - Ed Williams: Ed recruited 6 area kernels who are contacting the units for us. So far, 15 packs and 10 troops have committed to sell popcorn.

Other Business: Bill Slocumb reporting: District web site has BSA's approval. There will be a links from WWW/BSA/NET & WWW/BSA/NET/OCCONEECHEE, if approved.
