to share. The Committee wants to say thanks to W.E. and Becky for providing
a great party and a wonderful meal to start the holiday season!

1. Blessing and Invocation by Stan Belyeu. Stan introduced two new Committee
members, Pam Sen - Cub Scout Advancement and Tom Doligalski - OA Advisor.

2. November minutes approved.

3. District Commissioner - Ron Werley:	Ron's job at IBM is raising havoc with
his Scouting. He badly needs help making the December Unit Inventory calls.
If you are willing to call one or more units to check their inventories,
   PLEASE contact Ron at 481-9057 (H), 461-3033 (W) or at werley@us.ibm.com.

Roundtable ADC - Gary Thorn: December's Roundtable will feature a Pinewood
Derby workshop for Cubs and Spring Camporee planning for Boy Scouts.

4. Boy Scout Program - Ed Walsh:

Advancement - Ed Williams: 9 troops had advancement in November.

Eagle Board of Review - Ed Williams for Tom Allen: 10 Eagles approved in
November, 7 projects approved and 3 rejected. 62 Eagles so far this year.

Scout leaders who have had the new leader essentials (or equivalent)
training. Leaders can sign up via the Scout Office for any of the 3 courses
scheduled for the spring of 2002. Our district is looking at offering the
new course for Troop Committee training within the next few months.	A new
Varsity training course is coming out in March of 2002 and a new JLT course
training program will be introduced in late 2002. In the next 2 years there
will be 3 Wood Badge courses in our council; 1 in 2002 and 2 in 2003.
Venture training will be held by our council sometime in January of 2002.

Camping - John Slocumb: No report.

High Adventure - Steve Stewart: Tom Stalker wants to do a Safety Afloat and
Safe Swim Defense at one of our Roundtables. Lake and River Canoe handling

Conference (the new TTT) will be held in Raleigh. Call the Scout Office
   for more information.

6. Membership/Relationships - At the end of November we had 2781 registered
Scouts. We need about 157 more (2929) to meet the Quality District goals.
We are short in the Cubbing area especially.

7. Order of the Arrow - Tom Doligalski: The Vice-Chief of Service for the
Tsungani Chapter has agreed to supply the sorting and loading man/boy power
for February's Scouting for Food event. Bags will be delivered on Feb. 2nd
and picked up on Feb. 9th. If your unit cannot do Scouting for Food on
those dates, your unit can do it anytime. Just please make sure that you
report the weight of the food you collect and who you deliver it to to Dusty
Fletcher so we can keep track of how much food we collect in our district.

8. Finance - Ed Walsh - Family Campaign Chairman: Kickoff at St. Andrew's on
December 6th. FOS goal for our district for 2002 is $40,000. Ed is going
to try to increase participation of packs and troops. The FOS breakfast for
our district is at Preston Woods Country Club on April 30th, 2002.

Popcorn - Dusty Fletcher: A total of 1479 Scouts of our district sold more
than $365,000 worth of popcorn. All units, except Pack 222, have settled
their popcorn accounts at the council office. Our units are really great!!

9. Activities and Civic Service - Dusty Fletcher: Dusty reported that 200
Scouts and Scouters attended our Annual Recognition Event on November 15.
Our District presented Awards of Merit to Tom Doligalski, Tommy Grubbs,
Ralph Keaton and Keith Leister. We also recognized 40 Scouters with a DLC,
40 Religious Award recipients and 7 Eagles who were present. Dick Fletcher,
for the second year, presented each Religious Award recipient with a wooden
cross neckerchief slide. Thank you, Dick! The cost of the food was $450.35.

COMMITTEE PLEASE NOTE:	The January Annual Committee Planning Retreat will be
held at Becky Medlin Realty in Fuquay-Varina. All Committee members should be
at the planning session. We will start at 7pm on Friday, January 4, 2002 with
the January Committee meeting and then a discussion of what needs to take place
starting at 8am on Saturday, January 5, 2002. Each Committee Chairperson
should review their goals for last year and prepare/update their area's goals
for the coming Scouting year. The Committee Goals that were set for this last
year are posted on our website on the site map heading of "District Committee"
and "Committee Goals for 2001". If you cannot access our website, e-mail Roger
Lear at learbsa@utinet.net and request the goals.

You should also print out a copy of the District Calendar for 2002 located on
our website under the site map heading of "District Committee" and "2001 & 2002
District Calendars" (or the copy of the 2002 Calender included at the end of
these minutes) and bring it with you to the meeting.

Please prepare your plans before Jan. 4 and update/revise them at the retreat!
We will eat out at lunch as a group (and maybe supper too), so bring money!

The directions to Becky Medlin's business are posted on our website under the
site map heading of "District Committee" and "Committee Meeting Minutes" inside
the Committee Meeting minutes for November 2001. They are also attached to
the end of these minutes.
