District Commissioner - David Hearne: District recharter is in process; if your primary registration is with the District please give David a check for $8 by the end of October. Troop 331 is rechartered and Pack/Troop 307 is trying to recharter.

Boy Scout Program Reports - Don Schmidt: The camping survey memo is not out yet; Don will see to it.

Camping - W.E. Medlin: No Report.

Advancement - Ed Williams: No report.

Eagle Board - Jim McSherry: In September we had 2 projects and 3 finals approved. There are 3 projects and 4 finals for October.

Training - John Cortese: SMF in October had about 64 attendees. John said it went well. If you have someone you would like to see invited to the Philmont training sessions, contact John Cortese. The next TTT course will be in January in Fayetteville. David Hearne said that the Sanford TTT was really well done.

Cub Program Reports:

Advancement - Judy Ward: There were 4 Bobcats, 8 Wolves, 3 Webelos, & 3 Arrow of Lights for September with 5 out of 36 units advancing.

Training - No report:

Order of the Arrow - Larry Nessly: Fall Fellowship turnout was very light, due to the date being changed, so on October 16th there will be a Brotherhood trail and Vigil supper/breakfast at Camp Campbell.

Health & Safety: No Report; but Ed Williams says that next year there will be a BSA safety course for climbing.

Activities and Civic Service - Dusty Fletcher: Thursday, November 4 is our annual Recognition Event. Time is 6:30 pm, with the program starting at 7 pm. Held at the RFUP Church (where we hold our Round Table). Dusty wants committee members and helpers there at 5 pm to help setup and some Scouters for later for cleaning up. We will recognize Religious Award recipients and Eagle Scouts. Dusty has received only a few nominations for the Distinguised Leadership Citation from unit leaders & Committee Chairpersons. The DLC is a way you can recognize any unit leaders or helpers who have been in your unit for at least 2 years. The nominations must be submitted by October 21 (the October RT). If you have questions call Dusty at 387-9205, Ed Williams at 851-1464 or Roger Lear at 467-9391. PLEASE HELP US ON THIS!

Membership - Stan Belyeu: Our Fall Roundup had a final total of 435 new Cubs. That is the best we have ever done on any roundup in the past several years. GREAT JOB Stan! Stan is trying to organize a new unit(s) at Disciple UM Church. Stan made a presentation to a UM Pastor's Meeting and is attempting to help the UM Church have more than 55% of their churches sponsoring Scouting units. Stan said he has had some results from that presentation and is hoping for more. Stan needs help doing this so if you can give him a hand call him at 467-9132. He is going to put together a critique of the Fall Roundup and present it to Jeff and the DC.

Finance - Jeff Rock: Jeff thanked us again for hitting $70,000.00.

Popcorn - Ed Williams for Shari Garrett: We have had 5 units back out of selling popcorn, so 44 are selling popcorn. That is about what we had last year. Austin Foods on Aviation Parkway is letting us use their warehouse for the popcorn sorting/distribution. It looks like we are going to have plenty of room. The Popcorn sale started on September 28. If you do not have a unit call on you and you want popcorn, call Ed Williams (851-1464) or R. Lear (467-9391).

Council Camporee - Steve Stewart: Steve says that they are estimating between 5,000 and 7,000 Scouts and Scouters at the camporee. They need van drivers (vans supplied) to shuttle the Scouts/Scouters and help at registration. If you can help please give Steve or the Scout Office a call. Registration starts at 3 pm on that Friday. Steve says they only have room for 3000 to 4000 cars so you had better plan on getting there EARLY and CAR POOLING!

Nominating Committee - Bob Ratledge: The 1999-2000 District Committee nominations were tabled until the November 3rd meeting. Since no CPR's were present it was done without a vote.

New Dan Beard DE - Jeff Rock: Jeff says they are looking at another candidate as our DE; maybe by November we'll have one.

New Business - Don Schmidt: Glen Traylor has had to pass on being the 2000 District Camporee Chief. Don is looking for someone to do it. If you are interested give him a call.

New Business - Jeff Rock: The nominations for the Silver Beaver Awards are due to the Council Office by November 1, 1999. If you are going to put in a nomination for a Scouter from our District, please inform Dusty Fletcher (387-9205) or Roger Lear (467-9391).

New Business - Ed Williams: Ed reported that Troop 165 is celebrating their 25th Anniversary on October 23, from 2 to 4 PM at the Macedonia Methodist Church (on the corner of Walnut St. and Tryon Road). He invited everyone to attend.

District Committee Members of the Month: Rudy Hines and Jim McSherry for their outstanding work on the Eagle Board of Review.
