2012 Crosswinds District Boy Scout Camporee - April 13-15, 2012The theme for the Camporee is Scouting Olympics. Activities will be unit planned and run events of their choice. Your unit MUST provide an event in order for your unit to attend the camporee. Small units may join forces to produce an event. Large units may provide multiple events.
Units who want to attend the Camporee must provide, as soon as possible, the identification of an adult(s) who will be the adult focal point for the their unit.
They always welcome additional volunteers, so contact Ed Walsh if you wish to assist in any way. The Camporee web site has more information and is ready for on-line

2011 John W. Pope Family Eagle Scout ScholarshipAll Eagle Scouts, who are high school seniors, have the opportunity to apply for this $20,000 college scholarship. Deadline for application is February 13 2012. Application and all qualifying information can be found here:John William Pope Eagle Scholarship Application 2011 District Recognition Event AwardsThe District recognized this year's 93 Religious Award recepients, our new 80 Eagles since November 2010, 2 Scouting Spirit awards, 63 DLC awards and 3 DAOM awards. More than 200 Scouts and Scouters were in attendance at the 2011 Recognition Event held on December 1, 2011 at Cary Church of Latter Day Saints.Thanks to all the Committee Members and Scouters who helped us make the evening a great success. Our thanks specifically to Keith Biegert, the District Awards Committee Chairman, Gary Thorn, Jerry Jester, Bob Gamble, Roger Lear, Ed Walsh and Robbie Spivey for pulling it all together. Gary Thorn and Roger Lear did a lot of the paperwork and getting the program together. Keith did an outstanding job of overseeing the logistics and lining up the people to present the program. THANK YOU Awards Committee!

Scouting For Food Information for all ScoutersChris and Kristin Meyer, our Scouting For Food Co-Chairpersons, have published a document outlining the procedures for the units participating in our Scouting for Food program and challanging all of our units for the remaining part of 2011 and next year 2012. Crosswinds District Committee Meetings are held on the 1st Thursday of
each month, with the exception of July and December. Meetings start at 7:00
pm and normally end by 8:30 pm. The meetings are currently held at the First
Baptist Church of Cary at 218 South Academy Street in downtown Cary in the
first floor meeting room (to the left after going in the white wooden entrance
doors on the North side of the church) or room A301 on the third floor if the
first floor meeting room is being used.
Crosswinds District Roundtable meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday
of each month, with the exception of July. We gather at 6:30 pm for one-half
hour of visiting. We start the actual Roundtable program at 7:00 pm and
normally end at around 8:30 pm. The meetings are currently held at the LDS
Church (Cary Ward), at 1811 Seabrook Ave., Cary, NC 27511, just off the SE
Cary Parkway.
