1. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Robbie Spivey.
2. There was no Crosswinds District Committee meeting in February. The minutes
for January 2007 were approved as written.
3. Membership/Relationships - Bill Reynolds: Bill is helping units create
year round recruiting plans that they develop and implement. He is also
going to help the Council develop their fall recuriting plans. On May 5
Bill will have a Scout booth at the Apex Peak Fest. He will be looking for
some help from the Apex Scouting units.
4. Training - William Highsmith: Will announced that Genn Newland is our new
Venturing Training Chairperson and that Lisa Clifton is our new Cub Training
Chairperson. The March IOLS class was re-scheduled for May 4-6, as they
only had 11 sign-up and they needed 16. The February NLE course went well.
There are Crosswinds training courses planned for March 10 and May 5 at the
Cary 1st Baptist Church. The May 5 training will be NLE, Venturing and all
Cub Scout training courses.
5. 2007 BS Spring Camporee - Keith Biegert for Bob Gamble: Keith said that Bob
says that everything is on schedule and quite a few units have signed up for
the Camporee already. You can register and pick your site, etc., at
http://crosswinds.cary.nc.us/camporee/index.html.
6. Finance - Martin Banning: Our Family Campaign is at $43K (goal is $83K),
our Major Gifts at $31K (goal is $52K), Community Champaign is at $500. The
2007 Campaign ends April 30. Jerry Jester is the Family Campaign Chairman
for his 3rd and last year.
7. Commissioner Service - Jerry Jester: 100% of the new Centennial Quality
Unit Award goals have been turned in. The Commissioner Service and the
units did a fabulous job! One half of our units are signed up to do
re-charter.
Round Table ADC - Gary Thorn: Gary is off to Europe again but Jerry will
cover for him at RT. We are going to try to arrange to get Cary First
Baptist Church for our March and April RT's as St. Andrew's is being used.
NOTE: Since our meeting we did get 1st Baptist for both dates. The April
19 RT will be held on the 3rd floor of the church. Go in the wide stairway
at the Park St. entrance, go up the stairs to the 3rd floor and turn left.
8. Eagle Board of Review - Gantt Edmiston (via e-mail): The January EBOR
approved 3 Eagle Ranks and no projects. The February EBOR approved 8 Eagle
Ranks and 1 project.
9. 2007 Pinewood Derby Race - Roger Lear for Bruce Wilcox and Brian Rau:
There are 19 Packs signed up to race on March 3rd at Cary Towne Center.
About 100 Cub Scouts will be racing and there will probably be 30 or 40 Cubs
entering the Best Design and Most Unique competitions. Jerry and Roger are
going to help out, so if you can come help starting at about 8am, do it!
10. 2007 Council Camporee - Martin Banning: Martin says the Camporee is
planned for October 26 - 28, 2007 at Camp Reeves.
11. 2007 District Cub-O-Ree - Martin Banning: Joyce Smith has agreed to head
up the Cub-O-Ree, assisted by Rudy Rowell and Martin. They are planning a
one day (no camping out) local area event. More on this next month.
Committee Member of the Month: Jerry Jester for his Family FOS work for the
last 3 years and to Jerry and the Commissioner Staff for the 100% Centennial
Quality Unit award sign-up.
