Roger Lear, Anne McVeigh, Gary Thorn (7)
1. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Roger Lear. Jerry Jester introduced two
guests, Nathan Junell and Breton Moody. Both are interested in working with
our Scouts and since both are professional chefs, they are looking forward
to helping on our Spring Camporee.
2. The minutes for January 2008 were approved as written. There were no
minutes for February 2008, as we held our Goal Planning meeting in February.
The District Goals that were set are shown on our web site under the SITE
MAP heading of "2008 Committee Goals".
3. Activities & Civic Service - Martin Banning for Chris Thomson: Scouting For
Food is progressing well and our units have collected and distributed more
than 4 tons of food so far. The Pinewood Derby had 163 Cub Scouts from 17
of our Packs participating and 110 of them were in the racing competition.
The results and pictures are posted on our web site. Bruce Wilcox has
agreed to be our Derby Chairman in 2009 and Cary Towne Center will be our
location, barring unforseen circumstances.
4. Boy Scout Camporee - Martin Banning for Ed Walsh: Camporee is on schedule.
5. Membership/Relationships - Martin Banning for Bill Reynolds: Recruiting
will occur this March 10 and March 18. Planning is being done on Spring
Roundup. We are working on bringing up Team 244 at Peace Presbyterian and
Pack 230 and Troop 230 at Apex First Baptist Church.
6. Finance - Martin Banning: We still are in need for a District Popcorn
Kernel for 2008. Our FOS Chairman Ralph Ashworth is helping us reach
higher goals than ever before. Jerry Jester, our Family FOS Chairman
reports that we are at $46K this month and our Community Campaign is in
progress. Come to the FOS Breakfast at Prestonwood on March 27 and find
out how we did.
7. Council Religious Awards Banquet is being held at St. Andrew on March 29 and
Martin is Chairman for the event.
8. Training - Will Highsmith: TDC Training last week went well with lots of
students and staff from Crosswinds. This coming Saturday's IOLS with Ed
Walsh as Scoutmaster has 40 students signed up and 9 staff. May 31 is set
for SM/ASM training at Cary 1st Baptist and Lisa Clifton is doing First Aid,
AED and CPR training on the same day. See Council web site Training
