Attendees: Keith Biegert, Todd Ellis, Gantt Edmiston, Jerry Jester,
Will Highsmith, Roger Lear, Bill Reynolds, Rodger Skirvin,
Mike Steller, Jonathan Taylor, Chris Thomson, Gary Thorn and
	   Ed Walsh (13),

1. The meeting was called to order by Jonathan Taylor and the Pledge of
Allegiance was led by Bill Reynolds.

2. The minutes for March 2009 were approved as written.

3. Jonathan introduced Wesley Moyer and Charles Stuber who gave us a
presentation for Modern Woodsmen of America. Wes explained that the
Woodsmen were ready to provide up to 5 people and $50 to help a unit or
Scout with any project that was to take place in early May.	Committee
members will get with their units to see if they can set something up.

4. Finance - Jerry Jester: Our FOS is just over $70K. Jerry asked Scout's
parents to put their change in a jar. That way they could defray the $144
per year cost for a Scout, which is about $3/week or $12 per month. Jonathan
Taylor said the District FOS breakfast on April 17 would have US Senator
Richard Burr as the speaker. The goal is to raise about $60,000. The
Council FOS breakfast raised $400K.	Our Community Campaign has not started
   yet.

5. Training - Will Highsmith: Will reported they had 25 take the Cub Scout
Training course. They need staff for the May 16 Balou class. There will
be a Mega Training course in September. The training records information
has had a few glitches that they are working out. The SM/TC, etc. training
course held last month at the LDS church had 40 leaders attending.

6. Membership/Relationships - Bill Reynolds: Membership numbers are not
available thie month as they are still recording re-registration numbers.
Morrisville PD and FD want to start Explorer Posts.	We dropped 2 units and
3 units had reduced membership at re-registration. Bill is attempting to
contact every unit to point out the Playbook the Council has put out to help
in getting new Scouts and to help them fill out the surveys in the Playbook.
Flyers may again go out to schools by June 1,if the principals agree to it.
The emphasis will be on first and second grade.

7. Activities & Civic Service - Chris Thomson:	The Flag Retirement ceremonies
on April 18 has shown increased sign-ups and interest. The Scouting for
Food banners for units have been approved and Rodger Skirvin said that the
$100 cost would be covered the Council allocation to our District. March
had some SFF activity and Pack 201 collected 362 pounds for the NC Foodbank.

The March Pinewood Derby kept Matt Miersen, Jeff Farlow and more than 50
volunteers on March 7, 2009 busy from 9am until 8pm. There were more
than 150 Cub Scouts and Webelos from 18 Packs entered in the Pinewood Derby.
There were 102 racing, 28 entered in Best Design and 25 entered in the Most
Unique categories. The complete information is on the District Web Site.

8. Eagle Board of Review - Gantt Edmiston: The March 2009 Crosswinds EBOR
approved 9 Eagle Ranks and reviewed and approved 14 Eagle projects.

9. Commissioner Service - Jerry Jester: We have 25 Commissioners at present.
The Commissioner's have done a great job in re-chartering the units, with
97% of them completed. The Commissioner service is going to act as greeters
and tour guides for the Grand Lodge opening on April 16. Commissoner's
College is coming up on May 9,2009.

RoundTable attendance: Gary Thorn: Cub leader attendance is down. More
than 23% of our first time RoundTable attendees attended a second time.
The District is planning to have hot dogs, etc., at the August 2009
   RoundTable.

10. OA Chapter Advisor Nomination - Gantt Edmiston: Because of the
unfortunate death of Monte McCaw, our OA Chapter Advisor, Gantt would like
to see the position filled as quickly as we can. Gantt provided the name
of a person that is interested in the position. Nominations have to be
made to Rodger Skirvin and then Rodger will take the actions necessary to
select one of the nominees. Gantt will e-mail the OA lodge with the
    request for any additional nominations.

The May 7, 2009 District Committee Meeting will be held in the Cary Baptist
Church's Annex #3 (our normal location) unless we announce otherwise.
