1. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Robbie Spivey.
2. The Crosswinds District minutes for June 2005 were approved as written.
3. Membership/Relationships - Martin Banning & Bill Reynolds: Cub recruiting
flyers are printed and ready to distribute to the schools. Current figures
are 751 Cub Scouts, 806 Boy Scouts and 27 Venture Scouts for a total of
1584 Scouts. Four new units are being formed and one unit re-activated.
4. Commissioner Service - Susan Long: Susan requests all units to get their
nominations in for DLC and DAOM by September 15, 2005 at the Round Table.
NOTE to ALL COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND COMMISSIONERS: Susan reminds you that the
District Committee Members and the Commissioners are responsible for
supplying the desserts for the August Round Table Kick-Off meal. Please
make desserts like cookies, brownies, ice cream, etc. that does not have to
be cut up. The meal will start at 6:30pm and will consist of BBQ sandwiches
and chips.
RoundTable ADC - Gary Thorn: We will have a Health and Safety certification
course led by Bob Gamble for our SEPTEMBER Round Table Program for both Cub
and Boy Scout leaders.
Cub Scout RoundTable Commissioner - Rudy Rowell: Rudy reported that he has
created a separate Cub Scouter e-mail list server that will contain news and
information for Cub Scout Leaders. To join the e-mail list server send an
e-mail to Rudy or go to Crosswinds_CubScouts@yahoogroups.com and request to
become a subscriber.
Boy Scout RoundTable Commissioner - Jerry Jester: Jerry has been in the
hospital for the last month and seems to be on the mend. We wish him a
rapid recovery and send him the Committee's best wishes for good health.
5. Finance - Martin Banning: The Council FOS Conference is August 8-10 and
most of the Council staff will be at the meeting. Our FOS goal for 2006
will be about $118,000.
Popcorn - Beckie Dayton: Our District Popcorn Sale unit sign up is not
going too well. Only 6 Packs, 4 Troops and 1 Crew have signed up to sell in
2005. PLEASE help us by contacting Beckie as it takes a tremendous amount
of time for her to try and contact all of our District Units.
PACK, TROOP and VENTURE LEADERS PLEASE TAKE NOTE:
You need to contact Beckie Dayton at 815-6718 or e-mail her and tell her if
your unit is going to sell popcorn and who your Unit Kernel is going to be.
The Unit Popcorn Kernel Kick-Off Meeting will be held at Cary First Baptist
Church on September 6, 2005. You or your Unit Kernel MUST attend.
6. Activities and Civic Service - Open position - No report.
2006 Scouting for Food: Dusty Fletcher has agreed to head up the COUNCIL
Scouting for Food drive for 2006. The drive is scheduled for April 8, 2006.
An information meeting will be held on October 13, 2005 for all districts.
7. Cub Scout Program - Open position.
Cub Scout Advancement - Pam Sen: Pam reported via e-mail that our 751 Cub
Scouts had 907 advancements in July of 2005.
8. Boy Scout Program - Ed Walsh:
Boy Scout Advancement - Tom Doligalski: No report.
Eagle Board of Review - Tom Allen: The July 13 EBOR approved 6 Eagle Ranks
and 6 projects were approved and 1 rejected.
9. Order of the Arrow - Tom Doligalski: No report.
10. Venturing - Bill Fairhurst: No report.
11. Training - Suzie Slopek: There is a MegaTraining course scheduled to be
held on September 24, 2005. They need instructors. If you will help with
the course contact Eric James, the Hemlock District DE, at 872-4884.
November 12, 2005 is the date for the Council's University of Scouting.
Refer to the Occoneeshee Council web site for more information.
12. Eagle Projects and Troop Camping and projects: Chris Siegl reported that
the Bonsal RR group has many possibilities for projects and units to do if
they would like. Contact Chris or look at our web site for information on
the Bonsal RR projects and activities.
13. Our District is re-structuring the Committee and the agendas for our
District Committee meetings. The re-structure mainly affects the groups
that report to the individual function Committee chairs and separates the
Committee meeting into two main meeting parts; the first where the separate
committees meet and report to their chairpersons and then a second meeting
where the chairpersons report the results of the first meetings to the Key
3. More will be published on the group reporting structure and the agenda
as it becomes available. We will follow the new agenda for the September
District Committee Meeting.
14. PLEASE TAKE NOTE: Our District Committee Meetings will now be held in
the Old Fellowship Hall of the Cary First Baptist Church on the corner of
S. Academy St. and W. Park St. (the street between the Cary Library and the
church). Use the North side entrance to the church (the wooden door under
the overhang that has the buzzer mounted on the side of the door frame).
Go in the door and turn LEFT. The Old Fellowship hall is at the end of the
hallway (directly under the main Sanctuary). Do not go up or down any
stairs. The meetings will still be held on the first Thursday of each
month (except July) and will start at 7:00 pm.

Distict and our Council!
