1. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jerry Jester.
2. The minutes for June 2007 were approved as written.
3. Membership/Relationships - Bill Reynolds: Bill wants someone to canvas the
Scouters at RT to find out who can help on Aug. 25 (Lazy Days) and Sept. 22
for a dedication of a new Cary Park and playgruond with a flag ceremony and
some interactive displays like Pinewood Derby, Raingutter Regatta, etc..
He also needs help on Sept. 10 and Sept. 13 at Cub Roundup at the Kiwanis
Shelter from 7pm to 9pm. If you can help Bill out let him know. We need 3
new units to make Quality District this year. Both he and Martin are
working on it.
4. Training - Will Highsmith: On August 11 they are offering a Council Sea
Scout Leader Course for 3 ships. In Sept. they may offer Den Chief training
and in November they may offer Troop Committee Challange training. They are
laying out the classes they will offer in 2008. The August 25th NLE and
youth protection course has been postponed due to a lack of trainers.
5. Commissioner Service - Jerry Jester: Unit inventories have been completed
and Jerry will report the results at the August RoundTable.
Round Table ADC - Gary Thorn: EVERYONE PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING
Round Table CHANGES: The District Recongnition Event has been moved from
October 18 to November 15, 2007 and may be held at the Cary First Baptist
Church. Gary will let everyone know at the August RT where it will be.
The August, September, October and December RT's will be at St. Andrew's.
The August RoundTable will feature our annual RT Kickoff meal. It will be
held at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church (our normal location). We
are planning on serving hot dogs and hamburghers, chips, etc.. The District
Committee members and the Unit Commissioners will be expected to bring a
dessert of some type, preferably one that does not require forks or spoons.
6. Finance - Martin Banning: We wrapped up the 2007 FOS at 104% of our goal.
Thank you to all the Scouters and families that made that possible.
Martin is already working on getting people for the 2008 FOS campaign.
7. Eagle Board of Review - Gantt Edmiston (via e-mail): The June EBOR approved
6 Eagle Ranks and approved 6 projects. The July EBOR approved 5 Eagle Ranks
and 5 projects were approved.
8. 2007 Popcorn - Beckie Dayton: Training for our 2007 Unit Popcorn Kernels
will be held on September 4, 2007 from 7pm to 9pm in the dining room of the
Cary First Baptist Church at 218 S. Academy St. in Cary. NOTE: If you have
served as a Unit Kernel before, Beckie says that you really need to attend
as there is a lot of new information from the Council and Trails-End. A
total of 19 units have signed up to sell popcorn so far.
Sept. 14 - Show-N-Sell orders need to be in to Laurie at the Council Office
Sept 27 & 28 - Show-N-Sell delivery and pickup - 8am to 5pm - Volunteers are
needed. Location to be determined.
Sept. 29 - Popcorn Sale Begins (NOT BEFORE THEN, PLEASE)
November 2 - Popcorn Sale Ends
November 3 & 4 - All Take Orders and prizes due to Beckie
Nov. 15 & 16 - Take Order delivery & pickup - Location to be determined.
Volunteers are needed 8am to 5pm on both days.
December 14 - All outstanding monies due to Laurie at the Scout Office.
Committee Member of the Month: Lu Little for her help with training and for
getting alternate locations for Round Tables.
