Attendees: Beckie Dayton, Todd Ellis, Jerry Jester, Roger Lear, Lu Little,
Jim McGraw, Rodger Skirvin, Jonathan Taylor, Ed Walsh and Cliff Ward
(10).
1. The meeting was called to order by Johnathan Taylor and the Pledge of
Allegiance was led by Roger Lear. We were meeting at the Triangle Rock Club
at 102 Pheasant Wood Court in Morrisville, NC, located off the Morrisville
Parkway near the intersection of Chapel Hill Road.
2. The minutes for June 2009 were approved as written.
3. Cliff Ward, our new District OA Capter Advisor from Troop 200, introduced
himself and went over his Scouting background for the Committee.
4. Membership/Relationships - Rodger Skirvin: Rodger announced that Bill
Reynolds was moving back to Colorado and would no longer be our Distict
Membership Chairman. We wish Bill all the luck in the world and have really
appreciatd his outstanding work as Membership Chairman for the past 4 years.
Our current District total is 1747 (709 Cubs, 989 Scouts and 49 Venturers).
We have 55 units (22 Packs, 27 Troops and 6 Crews).
5. Finance - Rodger Skirvin - Our FOS is at $153265. Our Family Campaign,
headed up by Jerry Jester, is at $102K, which is $2K above the Family Goal.
Great job again Jerry. FOS Goal was $153,000 and we are plus $265 above it!
2009 Popcorn Sale - Beckie Dayton: We still need a warehouse area for the
2009 popcorn sale. The 2009 Popcorn Kickoff meeting will be held at the
Cary First Baptist church on the 3rd floor on September 1, 2009 at 7pm.
6. Training - Lu Little: The September 26, 2009 Mega Training is scheduled to
be held at Cary First Baptist Church. They are in need of instructors for
the training and they need to have them sign up very soon.
7. OA Chapter Advisor - Cliff Ward: There were 63 OA members inducted at our
Summer Camp. Chapter meeting will be held at Smokies BBQ on Sept. 10.
He has set the tap-out for April 9-11, 2010 at Camp Reeves and units will be
invited to attend for a campout weekend if they want.
NOTE: The District would like to have a Camporee on April 9-11, 2010.
We will address it with the units at the August 2009 Roundtable. Ed
Walsh has agreed to be Camporee Chief if we have one.
8. Eagle Board of Review - Gantt Edmiston (via e-mail): In June there were 5
Eagle Ranks approved and there were 7 projects reviewed, with 5 approved and
2 rejected. In July there were 5 Eagle Ranks approved and 4 projectes were
reviewed, with 3 approved and 1 rejected.
9. Commissioner Service - Jerry Jester: Jerry reported that the Commissioners
have finished the unit inventories and they are helping the units obtain
their Centennial Quality unit awards.
NOTE: We will notify District Committee members of the meeting location for
the September 3, 2009 meeting.
Committee Member of the Month: Bill Reynolds for his outstanding work as our
District Membership Chairman for the last 4 years.
