1. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Robbie Spivey.
2. The Crosswinds District minutes for August 2005 were corrected by Pam
Sen to report that it was 907 Cub advancements THRU July of 2005. The rest
of the minutes were approved as written.
3. Membership/Relationships - Suzie Slopeck for Bill Reynolds:
Cub recruiting flyers were distributed to 25 schools. William Highsmith
reported that our Council is installing a Zip Code search tool on their
website for people to locate Cub Packs in their area. He hopes that they
will have a similar search tool for Troops and Crews, etc., in the future.
4. Commissioner Service - Gary Thorn for Susan Long: Gary said that we are
not getting nominations in for DLC and DAOM from the units. The nominations
are due by September 15, 2005 at the Round Table for the Annual Recognition
Event on October 20, 2005 (in place of Round Table).
Round Table ADC - Gary Thorn: A Health and Safety certification course, led
by Bob Gamble, will be our SEPTEMBER Round Table Program for both Cub Scout
and Boy Scout leaders.
Our August RT Kick-off meal was a big success thanks to our Scouters. Gary
reported that we had an attendance of 68 Scouters from 35 of our units!
That was 14 more than last year's kick-off. We had 19 out of 23 Cub units
and 14 of 21 Scout units represented this year and a record 17 First Timers
So far in 2005, we have had 45 units (out of 51) or 88% in attendance at RT.
5. Finance - No report.
Popcorn - Beckie Dayton: Our signup for the Popcorn sale is up to 24 units.
PACK, TROOP and VENTURE LEADERS PLEASE TAKE NOTE:
You need to contact Beckie Dayton at 815-6718 or e-mail her and tell her if
your unit is going to sell popcorn and who your Unit Kernel is going to be.
NOTE:
The Unit Popcorn Kernel Kick-Off Meeting will be held at Cary First Baptist
Church on September 6, 2005. You or your Unit Kernel MUST attend. It will
be held in the Fellowship Hall (the first hallway to the left after going
thru the entrance door from the North parking lot).
6. Cub Scout Program - Open position.
Cub Scout Advancement - Pam Sen: Pam had no report for this month.
7. Boy Scout Program - Ed Walsh:
Eagle Board of Review - Tom Allen: The August 10 EBOR approved 6 Eagle
Ranks and 5 projects.
8. Venturing - Chris Siegl: The New Hope Valley Railroad has several
possibilities for Eagle Projects. They also offer camping at their site.
9. Training - Suzie Slopek: IOLS Sept. 17 & October 14-15, 2005, Mega Training
to be held on Sept. 24, 2005. They need instructors. If you will help with
the course contact Eric James, the Hemlock District DE, at 872-4884.
November 12, 2005 is the date for the Council's University of Scouting.
Refer to the Occoneeshee Council web site for more information.
BALLO training for Cub leaders on Oct. 15, 2005 at Greystone UM Church.
10. LOCATION CHANGE: Our District Committee Meetings will now be held in
the Annex 3 church building of Cary First Baptist Church on the corner of
S. Academy St. and W. Park St. It is the old home located on the corner of
W. Park St. and Harrison Ave.
