Crosswinds District Committee Meeting Minutes
October 6, 2005

Attendees: Beckie Dayton, Gantt Edmiston, Bob Gamble, William Highsmith,
	   Jerry Jester, Roger Lear, Susan Long, Monte MCCaw, Chris Siegl,
	   Suzie Slopek, Robbie Spivey and Gary Thorn (12).

1. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Robbie Spivey.

2. The Crosswinds District Committee meeting minutes for September 2005 were
   approved.

3. Membership/Relationships - Susan Long for Bill Reynolds:
   At the end of 2004 we had 58 units, with 1.071 Cubs, 781 Scouts and 58
   Venturers.  We currently have 49 units with 984 Cubs, 818 Scouts and 27
   Venturers.  We are within reach of Quality District if we can get 9 more
   units and find some more Cubs and Venturers.   Bill & Martin are working
   with Sponsoring Organizations to try and start 11 more units.

4. Religious Awards - Chris Siegl:  Chris said that he hoped that we were going
   to have Catholic and Jewish Award information at the Council Camporee.

5. Commissioner Service - Susan Long:  Susan reported that she had 2 new Unit
   Commissioners, Clark Sessions for the #131 LDS units and Chris Taylor for
   the #31 LDS units.

   2005 Annual Recognition Event - October 20, 2005 at St. Andrew Catholic
   Church - Finger foods starting at 6:30pm and Program at about 7:15pm.

   NOTE TO COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND COMMISSIONERS:
   Susan wants to remind all Commissioner Staff and District Committee Members
   to attend the Annual Recognition Event and to MAKE SURE THEY EACH BRING A
   DESSERT to the Recognition Event. PLEASE bring desserts that can be picked
   up with the fingers, not ones that have to be cut or require forks/spoons.

   We will be awarding 45 DLC's to Scouters from 25 units and the District
   Award of Merit to Keith Biegert, Bob Crenshaw and Jerry Jester.  We will
   also be recognizing many Religious Awards and Eagle Ranks earned in 2005.

   Round Table ADC - Gary Thorn:  A Health and Safety certification course, led
   by Jim McGraw at our last Round Table, was attended by 24 Scouters.	Gary
   also noted that we had 49 at Round Table and 5 of them were "new comers".

6. Finance - Martin Banning: Martin reported by e-mail that we reached 118% of
   our District fundraising goal which was $99,000.  We raised $39,725 for our
   Major Gifts, $2,448 for Community Gifts and $74,955 for our Family Gifts for
   a total of $117,128.  Thank you to everyone who helped or gave us a gift.
   Consequently our goal for 2006 will be $118,000.

   Popcorn - Beckie Dayton:  We have 29 units signed up to sell popcorn,
   17 Packs, 11 Troops and 1 Crew, which is more units than sold last year.
   Crosswinds picked up 1463 cases of popcorn for the Show-N-Sell and
   Show-N-Deliver popcorn sale.  If you want popcorn this year, contact Beckie.

7. Cub Scout Program - Open position.

   Cub Scout Advancement - Pam Sen:  Pam had no report for this month.

8. Boy Scout Program - Ed Walsh:

   Eagle Board of Review - Gantt Edmiston:  The September EBOR approved 5 Eagle
   Ranks and 5 of 6 projects.

9. Spring Camporee - Jerry Jester:  Our Spring Camporee is scheduled for April
   28-30, 2006.  They are looking at some different Themes so that we have more
   than the four rotating Camporee Themes that we have been using.

10.Training - Suzie Slopek:  IOLS (2nd part) October 14-15, 2005 (22 Scouters).
   Only 27 Scouters have signed up for the Council's University of Scouting.
   November 12, 2005 is the date for the Cubs, Scouts, Venturer, Commissioner
   training.  Refer to the Occoneeshee Council web site for more information.
