October 5, 2006

				  BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA
				   OCCONEECHEE COUNCIL
				   CROSSWINDS DISTRICT

Robert Spivey Susan Long Martin Banning
District Chairman District Commissioner District Executive

Attendees: Bob Gamble, Jerry Jester, Roger Lear, Lu Little, Susan Long,
Bill Reynolds, Suzie Slopek, Chris Thomson, and Ed Walsh (9)

1. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Susan Long. Susan was chairing the
meeting as Robbie Spivey was out of town.

2. The September 2006 minutes were approved with the addendum that the
membership report should read that we have met the unit requirements for
Quality District, but not the membership requirements. The minutes have
been changed on the web site.

3. Commissioner Service - Jerry Jester and Susan Long:

Fall Registration inventory is starting in November. All unit leaders
should start checking their unit rosters for completeness. The best way to
do this is to contact your unit Advancement Chairman and have them pull the
Council's copy of your unit registrations, which are on-line.

NOTE: This is important note for all Scout leaders for this next
registration cycle. If you hold a Unit Commissioner job or a position on our
District Committee, you should make that your primary registration with the
BSA. If you also serve in a position with a unit, you should make that your
secondary (or duplicate) registration. If you have questions about this,
you should contact Susan or Jerry.

   We will award 3 DAOM's, 44 DLC's from 28 different units, 2 Scouting Spirit
Awards and will recognize the past year's Religious Awards and Eagle Ranks.
NOTE: ALL District Committee members should bring a finger food style
   dessert.

4. Activities and Civic Service - Chris Thomson: JOTA is set up to occur on
October 21, 2006 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church from 8am to 6pm.
Chris has gotten enough amateur radio operators to man 4 or 5 radio
stations. Info flyer has been sent out to units on our e-mail list server
and put on our website. Units and Scouts are already signing up for the
activities and for Scouts to earn their Radio MB in one day!

5. Membership - Bill Reynolds:	Crosswinds has exceeded the 2005 year end
membership in September of 2006. We need about 50 more Cub Scouts by the
end of the year to make Quality District.

6. Training - Lu Little for William Highsmith:	November 7, 2006 Cub Scout
Specific and Troop Committee Challange. See Council web site for flyer and
information. At our November Round Table New Leader Essentials will be
presented for new unit leaders, following the general info session.

7. Advancement - Tom Allen and Gantt Edmiston (via-e-mail); There were 4 Eagle
Ranks approved and 8 Eagle projects approved in September.

8. 2006 Popcorn Sale - Jerry Jester for Beckie Dayton:	20 units are doing
Shown 'N Sell and they ordered 2028 cases of popcorn. We have reached
70% of our Show 'N Sell goal already. Take order distribution will be done
on November 17 at the old Ford Truck Center at South Hills in Cary, just
past the Shiny Diner and the ice rink and right across the street from the
   Motel 6.

9. FOS - Jerry Jester:	Council recruiting starts next week for 2007 FOS.

10. Camp Promotion and Outdoors - Bob Gamble: Wood cutting event for the
spring camporee will be done this weekend.

11. Occoneechee Council Fall Cub-O-Ree will be held on October 27-29, 2006 at
the Garner Highway Patrol training track on Tryon Road in Raleigh.	Fee is
$10 each, $12 after October 15th and tshirts are $8 each.

12. The District Committee is looking into the feasibility of having a one day
District Cub Scout activity, in place of a Cub Scout Camporee. We do not
have any Cub Scout volunteers to head up a Cub Scout Camporee.

Committee Members of the Month: Lu Little for getting the former Truck Ford
Center for our take order distribution and Chris Thomson for getting the JOTA
event together.
