We are down 57 Cubs, 41 Scouts, 25 Venturers and 8 units for the year.
National is now promoting year round recruiting for Scouts and have created
the William D. Boyce New Unit Award (with a knot) for any volunteer
recruiter who brings a new unit on board.
4. Commissioner Service - Susan Long: Susan wanted to officially thank Martin
Banning and Gary Thorn for all the work they did putting together our very
successful annual recognition event. December unit inventories will start
at the November RT and leaders can e-mail rosters to their Unit
Commissioners or Susan (jlong7@nc.rr.com) or Martin Banning
(mbanning@bsamail.org).
NOTE: District Committee members NOT registered with a unit, need to
register with the BSA as soon as possible. Membership in Scouting is
$11.00 ($10 registration and $1 insurance). Don't lose your years tenure
continuity, register soon! Contact Martin or Susan if you have questions.
Round Table ADC - Gary Thorn: 40% of our attendees this year have attended
at least twice during this year. An average of 65% of our units have
attended RT this year.
Boy Scout RT Comm. - Jerry Jester: Camporee this year will have a nature
theme and plans and discussions about it will begin at our next RT. Jerry
asks all of us to urge our Scout leaders to attend our Round Tables.
5. Finance - Martin Banning: Martin reported that the 2006 FOS Campaign will be
kicked off in October. Tom Tingle is Community Chairman, Jerry Jester is
returning as Family Campaign Chairman and Jonathan Taylor will be the Major
Gifts Chairman. Our goals are, $43K for Major Gifts, $3200 for Community
Campaign and $79K for our Family Campaign, for a total goal of $125,500.
Popcorn - Beckie Dayton: Beckie reported that the orders were coming in
from the units as the deadline was November 1. We will need help unloading,
sorting and loading the popcorn on Novmember 17 and 18. If you can help
contact Beckie or Martin. Units should make sure they bring enough help to
help load the popcorn in their vehicles as we have about 2700 cases to load.
We will get the final numbers in December, but right now it looks as though
we may match or exceed last years sales.
6. Cub Scout Program - Open position.
Cub Scout Advancement - Pam Sen: Pam reported by e-mail that we had about
1000 Cub Scout advancements thru October 2005.
7. Boy Scout Program - Ed Walsh:

Ranks and 8 of 9 projects.
8. Spring Camporee - Jerry Jester: Our Spring Camporee is scheduled for April
28-30, 2006. Jim McGraw suggests that all units that plan on attending the
2006 Spring Camporee send at least one leader or volunteer to the RT
planning sessions that can act as a member of the Camporee Staff. There
will be a need for 25-30 adult volunteers to be trained for 30-45 minutes
by February in order to be prepared to help lead the Camporee.
9. Training - Suzie Slopek: IOLS (2nd part) had 22 out of 27 Scouters complete
the course. 12 Scouters out of 14 that were signed up, attended and
finished the TDC course held in Lewisburg, NC on Oct. 29.
